The High Court has dismissed Tesco's claim for a judicial review against Reigate and Banstead Borough Council's decision to grant planning permission for the construction of a new Lidl in Horley. This is fantastic news for local residents as it will guarantee a brand new supermarket on the old Air Balloon site on Brighton Road.
Local Conservative Councillors at Town, Borough and County level have been campaigning for the new Lidl for several years, and this will be a huge boost to the local economy of Horley Town Centre.
Cllr Giorgio Buttironi, Borough Councillor for Horley Central & South, says: "This is excellent news for the people of Horley, who will continue to have access to high-quality, affordable, and wide-ranging shopping facilities within our community."
"This is the result of the collective efforts from Conservative Borough Councillors to convince the Planning Committee to take a thorough look at Lidl's plans and urge them to overturn the officer's recommendation for refusing the application. It shows the importance of good local Conservative champions delivering for their fellow residents."
