This win confirms the strength of Mole Valley Conservatives when they are determined. Not only did we push the Liberal Democrats back to an all-time low of 7981 (14.5 %) of the vote but pushed UKIP down to 6181 (11.2 %).
Additionally members of our team helped the hugely successful re-election of Jane Ellison for the Conservatives in Battersea and the successful election of Paul Scully for the Conservatives in Sutton.
Every election since the 1997 landslide loss has shown the Conservatives increase in their majority and their percentage take of the General Election poll. We now have the responsibility to ensure the long-awaited control of Mole Valley District Council.
Locally we have two immediate and desperately important tasks. Firstly we have to win the battle against the second runway at Gatwick. If this were to happen Mole Valley would lose its green identity at the eastern end of the constituency. Additionally we have the huge fight to provide housing while at the same time protecting our green belt, particularly in the Guildford wards of Mole Valley constituency.
The 7th May 2015 result must be seen both as a huge success but also as another step in building the Conservative power base and domination of politics, including local politics in this beautiful constituency.
