As it has now been almost exactly six months since the successful General Election, I thought I would share with you some of what the first majority Conservative government in nearly two decades has delivered for our area and will deliver in the future.
Jobs
We’re helping create more jobs and opportunities in Mole Valley – and the number of people claiming unemployment benefits is down by 66 per cent since 2010. That means more people in work, with the security of a pay packet to provide for themselves and their families.
Business
There are 103,900 more businesses in the South East than in 2010 – and 18 businesses in Mole Valley have received Start-Up Loans, helping them grow and create jobs for our area. We will keep backing businesses with lower taxes, less red tape and more Start-Up Loans.
Schools & Skills
We've delivered 1,560 apprenticeships in Mole Valley since 2010, helping young people get the skills they need to get on in life. We’ve invested over £80,795,218 in creating new school places in Mole Valley, helping young people get the best start in life. We'll continue to give every child the best start in life by securing more good school places – and create 3 million more apprenticeships by 2020.
Cutting Income Tax
We’ve cut income tax - and 40,317 people in Mole Valley are now paying less income tax and keeping more of their hard-earned money. We will raise the tax-free allowance to £12,500 and increasing the 40p tax threshold so no-one earning under £50,000 pays it.
Infrastructure
- Investing £140m in the South East through the Regional Growth Fund, supporting 45,000 jobs and stimulating £900m of private investment.
- £686m of funding to support at least 312 flood defence projects in the South East.
- £778 million for improving local roads between 2015 and 2021.
