A massive thank you to every voter across Mole Valley that backed our Conservative ideas for our local area in the recent elections. Conservative candidates gained more support than any other party and we are the only group to have more councillors now than before the elections – Thank you.
In the next twelve months, you can be assured that Conservative Councillors will continue to fight hard to save our green spaces from inappropriate development and make sure that when the council spends your money it does so responsibly and efficiently. We will hold the administration to account at every step, particularly on ensuring that the planning department acts quickly with enforcement to stop unauthorised building and to publicise new applications and objections received.
We will do everything we can to protect the Greenbelt for the generations to come and to help local people and businesses themselves to reimagine our town centres. Our ten point plan for the district as a whole to become Carbon Negative sets the bar that the Council must reach. Mole Valley must be more ambitious and innovative on climate change and incentivise residents and companies to reduce their consumption of materials and the impact that they have on our environment, on our Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The District Council will change forever in 2023 with new electoral boundaries. Our village communities are special – we will resist them merging through the Local Plan and through the creation of District Council wards which combine community representation in ways that ignore the standalone nature of our rural villages and parishes. Local people must know their local councillors and know that their local councillors are members of their own community.
