Playgrounds, parks and open spaces
The current administration of Mole Valley District Council has reduced the spending on playgrounds and stopped the annual renewal programme.
Currently, £600 is spent per playground in Mole Valley, compared to £4,700 per playground in Tandridge and £5,750 per playground in Reigate & Banstead.
Local parents have reported that as a result of this neglect by the Liberal Democrat-led administration, their local playgrounds have become unsafe for their children to use.
A Conservative administration will put back the maintenance budget and restart the Playground Refurbishment Programme with annual replacement of playgrounds across Mole Valley in the short term.
In the longer term, a Conservative administration will aspire to ensure that playgrounds are accessible for all in key locations in the district with the aim of opening the first accessible and inclusive playground by April 2027.
Mole Valley Life
Community Services such as community alarm, the day centres and community transport are highly successful and valued by residents. A Conservative administration will protect these services.
Community Safety
Residents are reporting concerns about their safety and in light of this, the Liberal Democrat administration is planning to remove or reduce the CCTV coverage across the district. A Conservative administration would work to improve the existing CCTV infrastructure in areas such as Leatherhead, Dorking and Ashtead, and install new cameras to cover areas such as Fetcham Village Centre.
Planning and Enforcement services
The local planning system in Mole Valley is not working for residents. A Conservative administration will deliver a customer-focused planning service with effective enforcement. It will also deliver a Local Plan that works for all communities in the district.
Leisure and recreation
Leisure and Sports Centres have fallen to a low level of service under the Liberal Democrat administration, A Customer first approach to widen usage to everyone in our communities.
